STATEMENT FROM THE BOARD CHAIRMAN
The Local Government Training Institute (LGTI) is pleased to officiate and present the revised Strategic Plan (SP) 2021/22 – 2025/26 in the era of Tanzania as middle-income country. The plan provides direction of the institute over the next five years towards realization of its dream of being a centre of excellence in spearheading performance of LGAs for better service delivery through provision of practical-oriented and demand-driven training, research, and consultancy services concerning Local Government Finance, Administration and Management. The LGTI Management Team and staff played a fundamental role in identifying key issues affecting the institute and established strategies to realize the Institute vision and mission. The LGTI revitalized strategic plan has been mainly built on the achievement and challenges in the implementation of the previous Five Years Strategic Plan, which provided a base to articulate the next five years direction.
Preparation of the Institute Strategic Plan employed a collective and participatory approach whereby a wide range of internal and external stakeholders were involved. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Rector, Deputy Rectors, the management members, as well as the rest of LGTI staff for their valuable participation of this Strategic Plan. My appreciation goes to the internal Technical Team for demonstrating their professional expertise during preparation of this valuable document and specifically their endless commitment towards the production of this document. It is my hope that, the contribution shown by stakeholders during the review and development of this Strategic Plan will be maintained even during the course of its execution. This strategic plan will be the base for the preparation of the institute’s Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), annual action plan, budgets and a point of reference for all staff and stakeholders.
It is my expectation that effective implementation of this strategic plan will yield the attainment of set goals in practical-oriented and demand-driven training, research and consultancy services on Local Government Finance, Administration and Management through the support of all Institute stakeholders.
Lastly, I would like to promise LGTI management, staff and the general community served by the institute that the Board of Trustee will provide full support toward realizing the intended results of this revised Strategic Plan. Thus, I wish to urge all Board members, LGTI staff, and stakeholders to fully commit themselves towards implementation of this strategic plan according to their assigned roles.
